Technical leadership on a shared commerce platform
Hands-on engineering, technical leadership and architecture work on a shared platform serving seven global brands.
THE SITUATION
I joined during a high-pressure delivery phase as a developer in a cross-functional team. The Sitecore foundation began with one brand and grew into a shared platform serving seven global brands. As the scope expanded, the work also needed dependable technical decisions, release planning and documentation that made complex work easier for others to follow.
WHAT I DID
- Built customer-facing components in close collaboration with frontend and quality-assurance colleagues.
- Progressed into a Team Lead / Technical Architect role and helped lead one of the two core teams responsible for the shared platform.
- Stayed close to implementation while contributing to delivery planning, technical discussions, mentoring and knowledge sharing.
- Worked across product experiences, payments, customer login and customer-data integrations.
- Helped drive a major Sitecore upgrade and worked with the other leads on a platform-wide release strategy that was later put into use.
- Wrote and maintained technical documentation with enough detail for others to implement and operate the work.
WHAT CHANGED
The durable outcome was a way of working I still use: connect architecture to implementation, make the trade-offs explicit, and leave the team with a release plan or document it can actually use. This case makes no claim about unconfirmed adoption, onboarding, commercial results or individual ownership of shared outcomes.
